I had been anticipating this trip for months, but when it came to getting ready for it, I was highly unmotivated, for some reason. I procrastinated until the last minute, and I had not been able to prepare myself with the proper rest. In the end, I left home with everything that I needed and almost everything I wanted. The following is an account of my trip in the truck from Tallahassee, FL to Laredo, TX. 0 hour: I drove a few miles from home to a gas station at I10. Bought $67 gas, 24oz coffee and banana nut bread. Hour 3: Sent text message to friend. Me: Waz up dog? (I'm) in Mobile, AL BT: Tried to call u b4, bout 2 get gut cut, emergency surgery hernia, b safe amigo Me: Dam man, take care BT: Morphine good shit Me: good shit.....O yea BT: Dam straight home slice BT: I’m out c ya Me: L8r Hour 5: 1st Gas Stop: $70 gas, Red Bull , Hershey bar, bag pretzels. Saw cute girl with big butt. Woo Hoo! Hour 7: Ass hurting. Hour 8: Good news, ass no longer hurting, it's numb. Hour 9: Oh crap, finished last of the coffee from my thermos. Hour 10: 2nd Gas Stop: $67 gas, Red Bull #2, big Tootsie Roll. Hour 12: Caffeine and sugar not helping. So sleepy, pulled off into rest area for nap. Got 10 minutes, damn trucks just too loud. Pressed on. Ran into fog west of Houston. Broke out emergency Led Zeppelin cd. Hour 15: 50 miles north of Laredo, can't hold out, too sleepy. Stopped in picnic area for another nap. Got 20 minutes. Hour 16:43: Arrive hotel in Laredo. Covered 1053 miles. After getting into my room, I called Pierre and Mary. We planned to meet later and get the bikes unloaded. I laid down, but was afraid to close my eyes. I thought that I might not wake up until the next day. After, taking care of the bikes, getting the vehicles stored, and chatting with my new Canadian friends, I was able to go to sleep after a 31 hour day....zzzzzzzzzz A man has got to know his limitations!!!
